BERLIN -- German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder here Thursday warned the United States against launching new wars in the Middle East region, reacting to the latest American military threats against Syria and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"I am warning of repetitions," Schroeder was quoted in an interview with German TV (RTL), voicing his concern over new imminent American military strikes against Syria and Iran, IRNA reported.
The German leader added that there was no reason to speculate about a new war.
Schroeder has vehemently opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq, resulting in a post-world war II low in German-American relations.
